Richland Area Beekeepers Association (RABA) Field Day is re-scheduled again due to weather concerns. It will happen on Saturday, May 26.
Food will be served at about 11:30, so plan to get to Crestline about 11. Park at the parking lot across from the Dollar Store at the intersection of County Line Road and East Main Street.
Hands-on beekeeping demonstrations will take place from noon to 4PM at member Dave Duncan’s bee yard. The entrance is in Crestline across from 1042 State Route 181. Parking is limited. Shuttles will be working.
Grilled burgers and hot dogs will be provided. Please bring a side dish to share. Thanks to those of you who signed up at the Tuesday meeting so we will have variety.
Bring a folding/lawn chair if you want to be able to sit down.
You will see demonstrations of lighting a smoker, different smoker fuels, opening a live hive, inspecting and testing for varroa mites.
Dave was able to find a bee log, so we will demonstrate how to open it and install the bees into a hive box.
There will be a demonstration of how to capture a swarm.
Bring your questions. Bring your bee suits. Don’t wear shorts.
See you next Saturday,
Jennifer
Dave Duncan called me moments ago to report that RABA’s 2018 Field Day has been moved to Saturday, June 2, 2018 due to yet another unfavorable weekend weather forecast. Mother Nature just won’t cooperate. 🙂
